Analysis: Welcome to an extraordinary new “Blue Moon” in Cancer! If you remembered last month, we had a Cancer eclipse at zero degrees, the very beginning of the Cancer mansion. It’s rare to have a double dose of brand new energy in any sign, and considered to be a blue moon. While this moon isn’t so “blue,” it is possibly going to bring about some sobering experiences. The twenty-eighth degree is teetering on the sign’s final degree and lends dreamy and spiritual energy to the next month. With new intentions being brought forth for the second time around, it’s clear the cosmos want us to tune into our deep emotional nature. While this lunation is not an eclipse, the energy from last month’s eclipses is still very present and palpable. Cancer rules over the emotions, our past, and our homeland. All the feels are expected, as is some sort of longing or reflecting on our past. Being that Cancer represents nations, I imagine the events taking place in the weeks ahead have more than a few individuals longing for what home used to feel like. Some will be considering more significant relocations to place that feel more like a representation of what home should be. As I told readers last month, you were given all of July to review your intentions. If you feel like you didn’t get it right last month, here’s your chance.

This has been an intense few weeks. The Sun is coming out of a week of challenging aspects to a gang of planets in the opposite sign of Cancer, Capricorn. On the Cancer/ Capricorn axis, we are presented with a mix of similar, yet different cardinal energy. Cardinal energy wants to get moving, and often initiate or protect. While Capricorn does this on the world’s stage, lending strength to bodies of government and security forces, Cancer does this in a shelter and love sort of way. When these energies oppose one another, power struggles are likely to ensue, as there’s always disagreement in how to protect. While Capricorn is a dominating force, it’s no match for Cancers nurturing and loving ways. Without the tender love and care from Cancer, and a place to call home, Capricorn could not grow into the stable and robust force that it is. This lunation I ask you to reflect on duality and contrast. While it may not be pleasant, it’s an important dynamic to help us realize what we do want, in the face of seeing what we do not. Lead with love in all ways. Saturn sits exactly opposite this New Moon, reminding us not everyone will get a pass. I expect many to identify a limiting force in their lives this week. The lesson is to acknowledge it, but refuse to let us slow down our progress. Consider this a speed bump in getting where you would like to go. Borders will close, bosses will make difficult decisions. Indeed, those in charge will feel like their hands are tied, given the current world events.

Saturn has returned to his home sign of Capricorn and is nuzzled alongside Pluto (the lord of the underworld) and Jupiter (the great expander), shining a light on the world’s recent excessive power situations. Secrets have been stirring, and will now be exposed. With help from Neptune, slowly, dark truths will be unveiled. The results in the weeks ahead are likely to be shocking. The wealth imbalance and issues with inequality are now hitting the center stage. It will be interesting to see how the world powers respond to those in desperate need of financial and residential assistance. The beauty of Jupiter and Pluto together (while there’s few positives) will result from all of this enormous pressure. I assume the final result will be something like a diamond—a beautiful result from all the intense circumstances taking place in 2020. Time will be of the essence. I predict this is the beginning of the lower class and less fortunate rising up against those who have stood by and watched them suffer. Mars in Aries adds to this mix, giving power to the people and a sense of courage when needed. Mars is very hot to handle in the weeks and months ahead, and it’s likely we will see some rather angry and reactionary situations unfold. Mars will build into intense squares with Saturn and Pluto throughout the second half of 2020. Many will be confronted with boiling tempers, and be asked to transmute this rage into something productive. In the days following this New Moon, look for this to begin.

Mercury in Cancer allows us to speak from the heart. While this is a lovely placement, he will be in tight, uncomfortable angles to Chiron and Mars for all of July. This will bring about a clash of ideas and communication. Old wounds are subject to be reviewed. Chiron is retrograde and should be a tad bit easier to maneuver now. While some may move through this and address issues head-on, others will struggle to feel heard. Self-healing and awareness are crucial during this time. Venus moves beautifully in aspect to fiery Mars and allows communication and action to work in synch together. In the weeks ahead, Venus will move out of her shadow period and touch the north node in early August. It’s then we get an indication of where we are “meant” to be and love. When I think about this lunation, it’s an indication that while the road ahead may be riddled with delays and discord, it’s important to forge ahead anyways. Saturn reminds us all good challenges are NOT in vain. We’ve only got a short four and a half month timeline before Saturn moves back into Aquarius. Take this moon to manifest your biggest emotional desires. Focus on how you want to feel, where you want to live, and what would make you feel the safest. If enough of us do this, we may just have a shot and reconstructing a country whose foundation is so fundamentally broken. But to make this happen, we must be willing to uproot everything that threatens the foundation below.

TRY THIS

New Moon in Cancer Chalice Cleansing

You will need:

  • A white candle
  • Matches
  • Moonstone crystal(s) or clear quartz
  • Seashells
  • A pitcher
  • Incense of your choice
  • A coconut
  • Saltwater (self-made is fine, or from the sea)
  • A glass or chalice
  • Salt*

 Simple Steps

  1. Clear your space with your choice of ritual. Smudging or incense is fine. So is music or bells.
  2. Follow your own opening of sacred space ritual.
  3. Pray over your white candle, invoking purity, and peace. Light the candle with a match.
  4. Place the crystals + shells in the chalice. Sit cross-legged on the floor or on a pillow holding the chalice at your solar plexus (stomach area). Meditate imagining filling this cup with positive emotions, joy, and security. Imagine waves are crashing over your head spilling ocean water into the cup. Take as much time here as you need with this meditation/ visualization.
  5. Take the coconut and place it on an altar space with the candle. You may split it open and drink from it if you wish, pouring some into your chalice.
  6. Take your pitcher, and mix the saltwater if you do not have fresh saltwater.
  7. Next, add your saltwater to the chalice, fill only 2/3 of the way total.
  8. Leave your coconut and chalice on your altar space along with your candle. Close sacred space when you are finished with your ritual. Thank your guides for being present during your magical work. When you’re finished- remove the crystals and rinse.

Pro Witch tip: The water in the chalice may remain for up to 48 hours. You may take this water/ coconut rinse and throw it on your front porch steps to cleanse your home’s opening. Return coconut pieces to a garden or nature.
