Celestial Insights    June 2023

Eclipse season is over, y'all! Although we can always expect these sacred celestial occurrences like clockwork, the color and energy of them are always dynamic based on the sign and transits encompassing them. Scorpio is perhaps one of, if not the most powerful eclipses in terms of intensity in its deep dives and resurgences that it inspires.

I hope you all are able to ground in your own power and move with grace through whatever massive or subtle shifts and changes this eclipse season has bestowed! There is liberation on the other side of change.

We are still in the energy of the Scorpio/Taurus axis through October, when we will then shift into new eclipse chapters and narratives of Aries and Libra. For now, continue working on writing/re-writing your story with the ink of Scorpio and Taurus.

Make note of this month’s lunation energies, including the full Strawberry moon rituals, the new moon in Gemini rituals, plus some of this month’s significant transits below to prepare for and work with the cosmic flow. Use the full moon in Sag and new moon in Gemini’s symbols, themes, tarot card partner, herbs for candle magick, crystals, affirmations, and more to personalize your own full and new moon rituals around invocations and releases during those energetic portals.

Notable Transits:
  • 06/03/23 Full Moon June 2023 in Sagittarius (Strawberry Moon, releases/renewals around spirituality, culture + personal empowerment, travel, exploration)
  • 06/05/23 Venus enters Leo (love, relationships, money, self-worth revolving around me-me-me getting the spotlight w/ some drama)
  • 06/11/23 Pluto retrogrades back into Capricorn (revisiting your relationship to power and work and long Collective cycles closing from past 10 years)
  • 06/11/23  Mercury enters Gemini (in its domicile and happy place here, chatty, social—watch out for gossip, whimsical, and opportune time for learning/teaching)
  • 06/17/23 Saturn retrograde in Pisces (looser boundaries making way for insights + revisiting and revising our structures and how we spend our time)
  • 06/18/23 New Moon In Gemini (connections, learning, moving through density and coming out on the other side more healed)
  • 6/21/23: Summer Solstice / Litha (longest day of the year)
  • 06/21/23 Sun enters Cancer (Collective nourishing, nurturing, and protective energies, maybe a splash of moodiness)
  • 06/26/23 Mercury enters Cancer (nostalgic, sentimental, moody, motherly talks, thoughts, and inner communication)
  • 06/30/23 Neptune retrograde in Pisces (revisiting fantasies, creative ideas, and other dreamy themes but with some awareness of good and difficult truths this time around)

Strawberry Moon/ Full Moon in Sagittarius
Sacred Firing on All Celestial Cylinders
June 3, 2023 // @ 13 degrees of Sagittarius
8:41 pm PST // 11:41 pm EST
SYNOPSIS:

This full moon adds a buzzy, fun blast of energy to your forcefield after those really deep and intense spring eclipses. Sag and Gem may be opposite on the zodiac wheel, but they have similar vibes, and if you break down their elements (Gemini = air, Sagittarius = fire), the curious and childlike Gemini air student encourages and expands the philosophical guru teacher’s fire.

This can be reflected in the mirror of the Mercury and Uranus conjunction in Taurus during this lunation. Communication and ideas will be infused with electricity, surprise, insights, and innovation. This sky signature makes this an excellent full moon to complete spiritual or philosophical work (ideas, writing, etc.) with the grounding of Taurus to anchor the expansive fire of this full moon in Sagittarius.

This important June transit also speaks to a culmination, release, and renewal around spirituality, so some may be experiencing switching gears and learning/teaching spiritual, esoteric, or religious work. Think releasing material and earthly attachments (Taurus) to gain spiritual bliss and understanding (Sagittarius).

Another notable monthly transit is the Venus and Pluto opposition at the time of this full moon. Venus in Cancer (also conjunct Lilith) opposing Rx Pluto in Aquarius offers space to safely feel all the feels for the purpose of empowerment by reflecting on where, when, and with whom you may have given your power away, especially if it involves a spiritual group (ahem, Pluto in Aquarius during a full Sag moon has cult-y vibes). Notice if you have lost your true Self in a group, and without judgement, allow yourself to de-congeal from that space with grace.

For everyone, this transit can signify a time of resolving conflicts and power imbalances in your home/family and or in your social groups/online/public. Lean into challenges and frame conflict as sacred information to notice what is not working and start to conceptualize change. Take an expanded view (Sagittarius) of the situation and focus on truth and honesty—hallmarks of Sag energy!

FULL MOON PETITION

In Sagittarius, a fire sign, you can write out your full moon releases on a small piece of paper and burn them away with fire, which transmutes energy, in a cauldron. You can then sprinkle some salt over the ashes and mix together in your cauldron to completely purify and clear the energy around your releases.

SUGGESTED MANTRA or AFFIRMATION

"On this full moon in Sagittarius, I release the remnants of old stories, old beliefs, and outdated culture that no longer serves my spirit and true Self. I eagerly lean into student/teacher energy, assuming both roles when they serve me and my community best. This full moon light shines awareness on my independence and uniqueness, growing my seeds of self love. I call forth my inner medicines of curiosity, exploration, and optimism to create new stories centered on my personal power. So mote it be."

FULL MOON MEDICINE

Sagittarius rules our liver, hips, thighs, and sacrum. Think about doing gentle hip opening yoga, thigh massage, detox tea, and sacral chakra work, chanting the seed mantra VAM and placing orange stones around your stomach below your belly button. Meditate on the power of fire as a guiding light and powerful transmuter during your ritual. New Moon in Gemini
Be Your Own Psychopomp & Gain Clarity Through Shadow Work
June 17, 2023 @ 26 degrees of Gemini
9:36 pm PST  //  12:36 am EST
SYNOPSIS:

A new moon in Gemini can typically usher in refreshing mental energy, but this particular June new moon has an important monthly transit: the Neptune and new moon conjunction, which brings an opportunity to venture into the murky clouds of the Shadow. Neptune is in its domicile in Pisces, indicating dreamy, nebulous, creative, and spiritual frequencies, with shadow energy of poor boundaries, unhealthy idealization, and manipulation.

There are no "bad" transits like there are no “bad” tarot cards—all are just mirrors to the Self, ego, and Shadow that give us opportunities to reflect, notice, and bring awareness to our parts. With this denser and more foggy energy, some may lean into daydreaming, reverie, and creative writing while others (depending on your chart placements) may experience more anxiety.

But don’t fret! Get curious about any anxiety (which is just excitement without support a la Perls) and seek support. You can do this internally through stillness, mindful presence, meditation, journaling and externally through meeting with friends or family to talk it out (v Gemini!), and process and untangle what’s going on. Remember: Words are spells! Perhaps also ask yourself: “where am I pretending? With whom do I perform?” This is important shadow work, too.

Due to this new Gemini moon being in a late degree (26), it will be switching signs into Cancer around 5 am the next day, so Luna will be void of course (the travel time moving between signs). Thus, doing magick work and spellcasting may be best the following day, which is Sunday (Sun’s day, the day of success).

In addition, an important transit for June happens this same day: Jupiter sextile Saturn (luck and expansion of plans and goals). The moon will also be trining the South Node, so whatever was funky around the dark moon the day before will be able to get cleared and released (Ketu/South Node) that Sunday.

Lastly, Chiron, the wounded healer, will be trining the duo Lilith and Pallas (who are conjunct in Leo). This is also a healing and rebirth transit, especially around eros and sexual energy (Lilith), in addition to engaging your inner compassionate fighter and healer energy and your creative mission (Pallas) to use as an energetic empowerment balm after the dark June moon’s shadow work on Saturday.

Write your intentions as specifically as possible on a small piece of paper, in the present tense, as if they are already happening. Fold it 3 times toward you, symbolizing bringing energy to you, and place on your altar under one of your crystals. You may also place your petition under your Air Element Candle or chime candle holder before you light your candle.

SUGGESTED MANTRA or AFFIRMATION

"On this new moon in Gemini, I call forth my Inner Guiding light to lead me on a journey into the clouds of my psyche. I use the sacred stillness of this dark moon to meditate on all of my inner parts, including my Shadow. I use this lunar portal to heal my Inner Child through gentle inquiry and exploration into how I communicate to myself, about myself, and to others. I move through the murky clouds with trust that they are temporary and here to teach me something about myself. I am grateful, I am resilient, and I am healing. So mote it be."

NEW MOON MEDICINE

Gemini rules our brain, nervous system, lungs, shoulder, arms, hands. Drinking nervous system-friendly teas and journaling thoughts and reflections, dream journaling, and even going through old text and emails and bringing awareness and intention to your communications and assessing where you can improve are helpful activities. Also, mindfulness practices are highlighted: presence in the moment, curiosity, non-judgment, and non-reaction, then journaling what came up for you. Chanting the bija mantra HAM (“hahm”) will clear and strengthen your throat chakra.

Kitchen Witch" is a term used for cunning or witchy folx whose spiritual practice is rooted within food, mealtimes, and the home. Kitchen Witches craft rituals, spells and/or potions utilizing edible items, found objects, and common household items. The kitchen is their altar; their home is their sacred space. In 2014, we created our Ritual Kits, Candles and Apothecary with the idea of mixing and matching common ritualistic ingredients like lavender, rose, or patchouli that would create a perfect combination for a unique spell or intention- setting ritual...
