Celestial Insights    August 2021

Hello, friends! We have a beautiful month of opportunity ahead under the Sun of Leo season, wrapping up in the grounding and organizational energy of Virgo. We start the month with celebration, as the 1st marks the Pagan sabbat, Lammas, or for some Lughnasadh. This is a harvest festival in the Wheel of the Year, where we acknowledge our abundance and give gratitude. This marks the beginning of the harvesting season through the end of the year until we hit winter and the cycle ends. Gathering with friends and family, sharing, eating, and being merry is a wonderful way to enjoy this summer abundance. Grains are significant, and used on altars as offerings, along with honoring Demeter/Ceres/Nepit.

The major astro highlights of this month include: A vivacious new moon in Leo and a rare blue full moon in Aquarius (2nd Aquarius full moon), both Mercury and Venus moving signs, indicating energy shifts around both communication and love/money, plus a FIFTH planet goes Rx: Uranus, The Great Awakener. Below are all of your August 2021 Celestial Insights to move through this month with ease and grace.

Check out all of the notable transits below, and get ready for rituals around the new and full moons with themes, symbols, and tools to use for your manifestations and releases. Also make note of which house will be most affected for you, per lunation. August blessings to all! Try to use that rare blue moon for major releases, forgiveness, and healing!

AUGUST 2021 LUNATIONS

New Moon in Leo: Dancing in the Flames of Ra
Sunday, August 8, 2021 @ 16 degrees of Leo
6:50 pm PST // 9:50 pm EST

THEMES & SYMBOLS: The Sun, romance, fun, creativity/art, our hearts, inner child, the lion, the dragon, fire, bright lights, indulgence, royalty, self-expression, communication, changes, love language, authenticity, growth, Ra, Medusa, orange, yellow, red

Dance and other art forms are how we express our authentic selves, and Leo is all about expression, authenticity, and creativity! So I picture dancing in the divine flames of the Sun charging us up energetically… Movement and self-expression are major themes. This new moon sits close to Mercury, so feeling communicative and inspired creatively can lead to this bountiful self-expression that can also be really healing. The moon will also make a square to Uranus, so unexpected changes can bring some excitement (versus irritation), so long as we stay flexible and collaborative with others to promote the growth this aspect can herald. Overall, the Sun charges us, energizes us, flourishes and inspires us, so this is a great time for new beginnings around being seen, living in the light of our authentic selves, and having the courage to step into that light.

          NEW MOON PETITION

Write your intentions as specifically as possibly on a small piece of paper, in the present tense, as if they are already happening. Fold it 3 times toward you, symbolizing bringing energy to you, and place on your altar under your crystals. You may also place your petition under your fire element candle or chime candle before you light your candle.

          SUGGESTED MANTRA

“I am energized and charged by the divine fire of the Sun! May I have the courage and strength to bring in all I desire, in divine timing, while tending to my inner child. Creativity naturally flows from me, from artwork to problem-solving, my spirit is imaginative, and my will is strong. I easily flow with change and am excited for the new beginnings my heart craves! So mote it be.”

          NEW MOON MEDICINE

Leo rules the heart, our blood, circulation, spine, upper back. Focusing on the heart chakra by forgiving anyone, including yourself, will get this channel back open and flowing. Meditating with green and pink stones on your chest will be charging and balancing, as well. Chanting the bija mantra YAM (heart chakra) will clear and strengthen this chakra. Doing yoga that gently rolls the spine will help with flow, and Kundalini yoga movement and chanting to awaken your shakti is recommended!

Blue Full Moon in Aquarius: A Second Chance for Release & Forgiveness
Sunday, August 22nd @ 29 degrees of Aquarius
          5:01 am PST // 8:01 am EST

Themes & Symbols: Second chance, spirals, rare opportunity, releasing resistance, balance, clearing out, surrender, karmic lessons, new structures, romance, community, humanity, technology, future, electricity, The Water Bearer, owl, orchids (especially Cattelya Orchid, which blooms twice), all shades of blue

Our second Full Aquarius Moon in a row, this is “second chance” energy to get something right that went amiss last month, or, you can wrap up a big cycle that needed a little extra time to complete. Again, releasing resistance and surrendering will get you into a divine flow that will bring you inner and outer harmony. This blue moon sits close to Jupiter, adding a splash of luck and growth to whatever you are trying to move forward or with whomever you are trying to connect. Speaking of connection, there’s also a Venus/Saturn trine that highlights commitment around matters of love and money, so this lunation can really make room for new love and romance if you put in the work. Acknowledging abundance in your life around the moon’s peak, when Luna is pregnant in the sky, will literally and figuratively shine light on big opportunity/opportunities you may have missed before, possibly even something that is “once in a lifetime.”

As always, it’s auspicious to call in and recognize abundance leading up to the peak of the full moon, then take action around releases and forgiveness after the peak.

                  FULL MOON PETITION

In Aquarius, an air sign, you can write out your full moon releases or those you want to forgive on a small piece of paper, speak them aloud facing east (air direction), and safely light the paper on fire in a cauldron. Mix the ashes with salt in the cauldron then blow the ashes into the wind facing east. If you do ritual on this blue moon before its peak, write down all you are grateful for and acknowledge abundance… Gratitude amplifies energy.

                  SUGGESTED MANTRA

“I am open to giving and receiving second chances. I surrender to all of the beauty, wisdom, and abundance the future holds for me, and I consciously and bravely make space for my future from this point forward. My soul soil is nourished by the waters of forgiveness, the optimism of the Sun, and pulling out the old roots of my outdated past self. I am ready for the future me. So mote it be.”

                  FULL MOON MEDICINE

Aquarius rules the knees, calves, shins, Achilles, and circulatory system. If physically able, go for walks in nature to warm up the legs and do the bound triangle yoga pose and chair pose. Do tantric breathwork with a lover. Aquarius is the eccentric rebel, so get weird and express yourself through wild dance, clothing, makeup, or make that bucket list of 10 things you want to do in this incarnation and make efforts to complete another one during this blue moon cycle. Humanity and social justice are paramount for this sign, so get active in your community any way you can to promote equity and equality!

Celestial Insights: The Cosmic Dance of Venus & Mercury Retrograde, March 2025

As we navigate the celestial currents of 2025, a unique astrological event awaits: both Venus and Mercury will be retrograde simultaneously. Venus will transition from Aries to Pisces during its retrograde, while Mercury will retrograde in Aries. This rare cosmic alignment offers a profound opportunity for introspection, reassessment, and personal growth. When these two influential planets appear to move backward in the sky, their retrograde energies prompt us to slow down and reevaluate critical aspects of our lives. While the experience may seem challenging, it ultimately serves as a chance to heal, reset, and reconnect with our true desires and intentions.

Throughout history, the name Cupid, or Eros, has been synonymous with romance, desire, and playful mischief. This cherubic archer, often depicted as a winged boy with a bow and quiver full of arrows, has roots far deeper than modern Valentine’s Day iconography. Originating in ancient mythology, Cupid’s story intertwines love and fate, often with dramatic and unexpected consequences. But who exactly is Cupid, and what is the lore behind this mischievous god of love?
