Welcome to your December Overview!
Let 2018 be known as the year of retrogrades! Woof, it’s over. As we reflect on the past several months of twists and turns, you may now breathe a sigh of relief. December is a month of some much more manageable and tranquil astrological transits. Take some extra time on the 5th to get some rest and recuperate. The Sun will be blending with Neptune making this a lazy day, where our immune systems are apt to take a hit. Prevent illness with lots of liquids or a warm bath. The Mercury retrograde will be winding down on the 6th of the month, you can rest easy when it comes to making any electronic purchases as gifts. I should note; when it comes to big-budget electronic items, extended warranties are still encouraged since we will be in the Mercury shadow. The same goes for any travel plans, as some things can still be apt to change unexpectedly. So double check any tickets, connecting flights and reservations
The energy around the 7th of the month is apt to be inspirational and an artists dream, as Mars and Neptune meet up in Pisces. Just be sure to use this energy with a creative outlet such as film, dance, or music. This energy can get a bit dicey with heavy weather and motor vehicles. Some are apt to have issues with drugs, alcohol, or other various poisons under these transit. This same day we have an expansive New Moon in Sagittarius inspiring us to set our sights high, and aim for our wildest dreams. Now is a good time to set new educational goals, plan a trip, or expand in the areas of higher learning. December 20th is a day to really pay attention to, as Uranus brings you flashes of psychic insight.
December 21st is known as the Winter Solstice, marking the longest evening of the year. This is the official move into Winter, with the Sun entering the sign of Capricorn. This evening is best spent by lighting candles, and reflecting on our goals and aspirations for the year ahead. The following day on the 22nd we move into a very watery and emotional Full Moon in Cancer. Many of us will be seeking a sense of comfort and familiarity. Sometimes, home really is where the heart is. It’s now time to step up and take charge of the healing process within ourselves. It isn’t always easy, but it’s now we learn how to speak from the heart and come from a place of emotional maturity.
The month winds down with Mars moving into Aries on the 31st giving us a burst of energy and enthusiasm. Between this and the Sun Saturn conjunction on the 1st of January, you’re bound to really stick to your New Years Resolutions!
Important dates this month:

Three of Pentacles: Perfecting your skills and craftsmanship
This month it’s imperative you double and triple check any travel plans. There can be some unexpected changes due to weather and unforeseen events so pay attention. Especially during the first week of December. Do your research and thoroughly look over all possible options before making a purchase. There are some opportunities to review your budgeting or joint savings with a partner. Explore new ways to finance or save together if at all possible. With the New Moon in your travel sector, it may just pay off and end up covering a dream trip or educational expenses later down the line. The 21st is an excellent time to gear up for some major work. Although you may be working overtime, be appreciative. Not everyone is going to be as busy as you in the months ahead. Use the Full Moon to bring you back to center, be sure to unplug and really connect with your family unit.
New Year Mantra: “My travels this year will expand my heart and mind. My home is a place of peace, healing, and security.”
The Hierophant: Establishment, education, or order.
You’re feeling curious when it comes to what’s going on behind the scenes. Jupiters trek into your hidden sector for the next thirteen months will have you doing research, seeking advances, and finding spiritual ways of connecting intimately. Your definition of security is about to change. If situations come up with partners where you feel less than supported, they won’t be well contained now. Meditate on security VS. control, you’ll quickly realize they are not the same. If there’s one thing you’ve realized recently, is you can’t control your partners. You are only responsible for two things; you, and your own actions. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself having conversations with people from your past. There’s something for you to wrap up early on in the month with them. Remember that many of the things that come at you now are a reflection of your thoughts. The more you’re making way for positivity, the more likely it will come about. The Full Moon will test you a bit on the 22nd. Don’t let fear be in the driver's seat.
New Year Mantra: “My positive thoughts and affirmations are magic spells that become reality. “
Ace of Cups: Cup runneth over with love and devotion
Relationships get a refresh this month. Between Jupiter expanding your marital sector, and the New Moon on the 7th, you’re bound to bring in some significant lessons in partnerships. It’s very likely you’re mingling with people who have a sense of adventure and culture. For those coupled, you may have a significant other who is traveling now. If this is the case, and you find yourself alone at home don’t worry, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Take time to get artistic and lose yourself in a new design project, or something creative. Music, painting, or meditation can help pass the time. Keep yourself busy so you don’t feel neglected. The Full Moon will have you going all out for some purchases. It’s likely you may be having to entertain or cover expenses for family around the home. Food and comfort seem to take priority. Just take caution and plan this in advance to prevent overspending. New Years seems like a blast and very social, be sure to get out and party.
New Year Mantra: “My self-worth, security, and value is increasingly abundant.”
The Moon: Imagination, psychic abilities, and enchantment.
There’s apt to be some changes in your workflow this month. Some of you will be just coming out of interviews, while others will be accepting new positions. If you received an offer to return to an old place of business recently think it over thoroughly before accepting. Once you get into the flow of these changes mid-month it should be smooth sailing. The New Moon on the 7th has you feeling positive about your health and routine. Some of you will really benefit from securing a new fitness instructor or trainer. Consider starting your New Years resolutions a bit early to make the most of next month. If you’re experiencing any issues in relationships or superiors, don’t get frustrated. You will be feeling a tad bit more emotional than usual around the Full Moon. Being that it’s in your sign, it’s all about the relationship you have with yourself. Avoid projecting your issues on partners, because they won’t respond well now. Moodiness and insecurities need to be dealt with. Don’t overly indulge in bad habits to soothe emotions, opt for a nice soak in the tub, and you’ll be good as new.
New Year Mantra: “My relationship with myself comes first.”
Four of Swords: Rest and recuperation.
You’ve been really kicking butt at work! Take some time to kick back a little bit and have some fun. You’ll be in the mood to take off on a short trip with a friend, so don’t be surprised if the opportunity presents itself before the holidays. Dating is looking excellent for you this year, but only if you’re willing to put yourself out there. The New Moon makes it possible to meet someone. There’s a good chance that they may reside in another city, but don’t let that stop you. Culture, creativity, and self-expression are all significant themes in your life in the months ahead. Passion is what will keep you going, so be sure to be in the moment when it arrives. The 21st can bring up some major projects at work for January 2019, it’s important to plan and organize everything ahead of time if possible. This will make the transition back to the office more bearable, and not have you coming in with the vacation blues. Use the Full Moon to rest and recharge, seems like you need some sleep from all the holiday commotion.
New Year Mantra: “Relaxation is key to connecting to myself. Breathe.”
4 of Wands: Social gathering, parties or celebrations.
With Mercury wrapping up it’s retrograde in your home sector, and now Jupiter moving in, it may feel as if you are outgrowing your space! This year you may be moving to another neighborhood, or even as far as another country. Start doing your research now and checking out what your options are. Don’t rush to make a move quite yet, the beginning of 2019 is a much better time to put that into action. For others, this is finally getting the time to be able to fly home and spend time with family. Regardless you’re being blessed with a jolly time among home and family members. If you do happen to be celebrating, there’s more of a focus with catching up with old friends and having them over for a meal. It seems like it’s been a while since you have seen some people. Others you know who may unable to see their family should be included with yours. The Full Moon at the end of the month can be an exciting time, to reconnect together and play!
New Year Mantra: “I am the friend I want to see in other people.”
Strength: Patience and determination.
The attention spent on communication this month should prove beneficial. You may be gaining some sort of good financial news at the beginning of the month. Something you overlooked is being refunded, or potentially even gifted to you. Suddenly people start becoming more interested in what you have to say in the world, and more likely to want to learn more. This is the beginning phase of Jupiter in your communication sector. You’re likely to write, teach, or connect with others across the globe this year. Keep that in mind as you consider anything that has to do with publishing, or even putting together some sort of coursework. The New Moon can be an excellent time to jot down any messages or ideas in this department. Siblings may seem more prominent, and opportunities to heal any past issues seem more so likely this holiday season. Around the 21st of the month, you may find it challenging to balance both your home and business responsibilities. It seems as if someone at home isn’t feeling the love. Try to be sympathetic and not leave anyone with hurt feelings.
New Year Mantra: “I am a leader and a positive example of the change I want to see in the world.”
Knight of Wands: Just do it, no matter the consequences.
You are moving into a powerful year of financial growth and self-confidence. Jupiter will be showering you with his blessings as long as you keep up your end of the deal. Opportunities arise to attract more as long as you’re in alignment with wealth flow. Sometimes it costs money to make money, other times it’s all about asking for what you deserve. Slowly your relationship with money will begin to shift, and you’ll place a higher value on experiences rather than tangible objects, and this is ok. The New Moon want’s to show you a sneak peek of what adventures there is to come this year. Splurge this month if a sparkly travel opportunity appears. Say yes to things, believe! There can be some challenges with communicating with others around the 21st. Be extra cautious with overstepping others boundaries with harsh words or expectations. Take your time with contracts, or even committing to purchasing a new vehicle. Mediation and fairness are key. When you are flexible, people see more of an opportunity to work with you in the future.
New Year Mantra: “ I value an open mind and the open road, and welcome all the new experiences they may bring.”
The Hanged Man: Transcendence, meditation or enlightenment.
This. Is. Your. Year.
I’ll let that sink in for a moment. Jupiter returns home to your sign, making you shine brightly. No, you’re not idealistic, you’re just aiming high. Many of your ideas for the year ahead will take off, the key is waiting until the universe lines up a few things up for you. This includes your finances. There are some major things under construction about how you will achieve your financial goals. The New Moon has you feeling all sorts of feels. Yes, some things have come to an end for you in these past months. But the good news is that was essentially all just to clear the path for new beginnings now. The end of the year is a great time to get serious about love affairs, business management, or financial goals. Use the Full Moon to fully embrace whatever “big kid” situations show up. For some it’s debt, for others, it’s embracing the shadow self. Regardless, until we face some of these skeletons in our closet an get it over with, we can’t really start off on the right foot now, can we? Get to it. You’ll be fine.
New Year Mantra: “I connect with my shadow self, it’s an important piece of who I am becoming.”
Ace of Wands: A sensual new beginning, a creative bang!
Ah, suddenly you’re easing into a sense of peace and regeneration. Your hidden realm is being visited by Jupiter, allowing you to clear any psychic debris that needs to go. Many of you will do this heavy lifting in the form of traveling alone, therapy, or meditation. Sleep seems to be on the schedule around the time of the New Moon on the 7th. Consider mantras or prayers that keep you in the right frame of mind. Making mental space means also creating heart space for someone new to enter. With the North nodes shift into your relationship sector, the months ahead will be spent cultivating new relationships with others. It’s likely you are mingling with new faces around the holiday, and potentially meeting someone new through a dinner party or celebration. Don’t be shy, open your heart and reveal your sensitive side. January will be full of you working hard behind the scenes on a work project set to launch soon.
New Year Mantra: “Relationships are doors to new and improved perspectives.”
8 of Cups: Knowing when to walk away.
Consider yourself lucky now, Jupiter is shining a bright new light on your 11th house sector of friends and community. This past year you’ve put in a lot of hard work, but now it’s time to wind down and party with some good friends. Consider finding new networks or associations to belong to, this will help you maintain the momentum of professional growth achieved in 2018. Some of these may be online and span across the globe. Education and higher knowledge is something that will stream in through these sources. Things can seem challenging around the 21st. You may find yourself realizing its time to relocate, or potentially have to deal with a medical issue. If pets have any health issues its important to take it seriously and seek the advice of a vet. Be aware of any new year health resolutions, if you’ve overindulged a bit too much in some areas, it may be time to curb some habits.
New Year Mantra: “ I surround myself with others who are happy and healthy”.
The Star: The light at the end of the tunnel.
All eyes are on you this month as you wrap up some loose ends to start 2019 off right, and on top. Your career sees its first glimmers of expansion now. The New Moon is an excellent time to start working on a new project, performance or connect with others in faraway places. Over the next several months you will slowly build more of a public image for yourself, so be mindful of those watching. Management or some type of mentor may be necessary for you to tackle everything you want. You’re feeling romantic, and expansive as the Full Moon comes into play later in the month. Some of you may be conceiving a child, welcoming a new creative project, or moving into putting your ideas on the stage. Your liberated by the opportunities that lie ahead, even if they are challenging at times. The world is your oyster.
New Year Mantra: “I am unique, confident and creative. I shine in all that I set out to do.”

Hecate (or Hekate, and pronounced “he-KAH-tay” or “he-KAH-tee”) has many titles, most notably the Torchbearer, Goddess of the Underworld, and the Keeper of the Keys of the Universe. A relationship with her is one that confronts and engages with the darkness that resides in us all, rather than ignore or reject it. Hecate is present in the Under, Middle, and Upper worlds, so her ability to transition between these realms indicates she is a powerful force for change. Hecate is an ancient goddess with a modern tradition. Modern Hekatean Witchcraft emphasizes her role in modernity, and puts less stress on the particularities of rituals and ceremonies so that practitioners may interpret their relationship in a modern, personal way, so that everyone’s practice is at their strongest. As far as sobriquets go, the Goddess of the Underworld is about as cool as they come. Along with her connection to the serpent, her power is connotative of what is popularly considered to be evil and nefarious in mainstream religion, but a relationship with Hecate underscores the necessity of dark with light, life with death...
