Analysis
Welcome back to the beginning of yet another eclipse season! This is the first of three eclipses we will be experiencing this Summer. Recently the nodes of the Moon have shifted signs and entered into the mutable signs of Gemini (north node) and Sagittarius (south node). This eclipse is in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius. Collectively, the South Node represents what we are releasing or moving away from. Karmic matters arise at the time of South Nodal sign eclipses. As with most Full Moons, we experience a collective energy rise, followed by a release. However, an eclipse is like a Full Moon on steroids. One would suggest that to better reach the collective results of the North Node; we must “eclipse” and phase out old ways of being (Pun intended). The South Node in Sagittarius encourages us to release the notion that we “know it all.” Many will need to tune in deep, connecting with our own individual soul’s compass, letting the rest of the world’s opinions fall away. Self-righteousness, overconfidence, and racial conflict are likely to follow as a result of this Moon. But where the North node lies, social media will be ablaze with a sea of opinions, and opportunities to better understand our neighbors. This eclipse’s goal is to remind us we don’t always know everything. Acknowledging and being humbled by that is an essential part of the process. It’s not wise to assume we can comprehend or begin to understand how other people perceive the world, or what they endure. Possibly, it’s then we can start to look at and treat each other as equals, rather than threats.

The Sun and Venus in Gemini, along with the Moon in Sagittarius, make hard squares to Mars and Neptune in Pisces. These Mutable squares suggest there is a massive changing of perspectives. This is extreme astrology in the sky taking place, bringing about intense and often different points of view. What we are learning is there is a distinction between truth and a difference of opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but truth has nothing to hide or manipulate. Many are emerging from weeks of isolation with a different point of view. Changing realities lead to shocking discoveries of what truly is right from wrong. Mutable signs are flexible by nature and require active listening skills to hear opposing points of view better. When The Collective Moon squares off with Mars and Neptune, we see waves of emotion, confusion, and downright deception. Mars with Neptune can lend energy to compassionate individuals and lead us in spiritual action or pursuits. Energy levels fluctuate, making it challenging to feel safe. Emotions run high and often lead to boiling points. I fully anticipate Neptune’s waves of intentional fogginess to have a smoke and mirrors effect on some people. Look out for scams, deliberate manipulation, and perhaps even a distortion of information from news outlets. Images and film may be manipulated somehow. Many sources will intentionally project a hidden agenda. Information should be taken with a grain of salt. This isn’t the Moon to be set in your beliefs but to be open to new bits of information. We are still in a cocoon phase, slowly gestating before emerging in August with a better frame of mind. Until then, it would appear our head and heart are at odds with one another. Observe.

Venus continues her retrograde motion until the second half of June. Venus is the planet of love and relation, but what many people don’t know is she presides over war as well. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed that when Venus moved retrograde in the sky and set with the Sun, she drove lovers to bed with one another. But weeks later, once Venus arose as the morning star, it was an omen of war. Motivating others to fight and quarrel. Women were believed to be especially unruly during these transits. In mid-June, Venus will begin to rise as the morning star again, bringing about tense relations. In the sign of Gemini, it’s communication. Our relationship to our inner circle, our friends, and, more importantly, our neighbors. I encourage you to take a good hard look at your neighborhoods. Now is the time to take better action in being there for your neighbors, getting to know them, and actively participating in making it a better place. City counsels and local governments are ripe with opportunities to create change. Avoid confrontations and verbal conflicts at all costs. Understand many will be more than willing to voice their opinions. Online trolls will be alive and well, fanning the fires of recent events. But in the end, the discord is the first phase of an unfolding of events. Many be wake up as a result of this eclipse. Realizing that we can not forge a path forward with division. Those who remain silent contribute to the problem. Revolution doesn’t always make sense. Sometimes order comes from chaos.

Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, and often time shines a light on topics such as travel, knowledge, and justice. Jupiter has been in the frosty sign of Capricorn since the end of 2019. Currently, Jupiter is moving into it’s second conjunction with Pluto in the same sign, Capricorn. This conjunction yet again highlights issues of abuse of power but, more explicitly, taking the control back. I should note, fighting fire with fire won’t work here. As the intense Mars energy builds, we will see people act out in cold and brutal ways. Pluto lends power to already fierce situations. “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind”. If we continue making assumptions and lashing out at others, we will never evolve. Not everyone agrees on the way forward, but one thing is for sure; we must move forward. We can not stay in this limbo of continuing our paths blindly, assuming everything is as it should be. Many things are out of balance, not allowing us to move forward together collectively. Spiritual beliefs are closely tied to Sagittarius. This sign is never one to shy away from leading the way to higher spiritual truths, illuminating issues that separate us like race or religious inequality. With these planets’ aspects to planets in Pisces, some of this work is still going on behind the scenes. Information will be intentionally distorted and pumped into the media. Practice patience and tolerance until the fog clears. Consider your sources, and remember, it only takes a little bit of light to illuminate the dark.

Ritual for peace and higher understanding
Right now, in this time and space, what the world needs is peace and support. By manifesting this energy, we pave the way for change and evolution. Welcoming justice for the people by the people. I ask you to join me in this potent astrological time for change. May the candles we light illuminate the path forward so we may walk hand in hand with one another.

You will need:
  • One blue candle
  • One white candle
  • A pinch of salt, or black salt
  • Olive leafs dried
  • Temperance tarot card
  • Essential oil, two drops of German or Roman Chamomile. (Lavender, tangerine, or sandalwood is an acceptable option also)
Steps:
1. Take your two candles and meditate with them, invoking energies of peace and understanding. Blue is intended to represent calming and tranquility. The White is used to cleanse and purify. Open sacred space and ask for your guides’ protection.

2. Inside the white candle, place a pinch of salt. On the blue candle, put two drops of your essential oil. Followed by a pinch of dried olive leaves. This is used as an offering to the goddess Athena. I have included a prayer to Athena for wisdom and peace. If you feel called to do so, please include this prayer with your ritual.
    Prayer to Athena for Wisdom and Peace
    “Clear-eyed Athena, unrivaled in wisdom,
    daughter of Zeus and Metis whose craft and wit
    excelled among the mighty Titans: Athena,
    I pray to you. Wise in all things you are, goddess;
    your cunning and guile are well known. In time of war
    you have no equal in tactics or in strategy;
    many armies have you guided to victory.
    In time of peace your blessings fall on those whose work
    is of the mind--friend of the philosopher,
    the scientist, the student. Advisor of kings,
    patron of clever heroes and bold-hearted
    adventurers, defender of the thinker,
    mistress of reason and understanding, goddess
    to whom a strong arm and a sharp sword are nothing
    without the sense to wield them well and the insight
    to know when words are worth more than weapons.
    Athena, grant me a sound mind and steady temper,
    bless me with good judgment, show me the long view. “

    3. Between the two candles, place the temperance card. This represents balance, healing, and unification. You can set this up on an altar space to allow it to manifest while it burns. On top of the card, you are welcome to place a quartz crystal or a pillar crystal to help maximize its results and disperse out into your environment.

    4. You are welcome to meditate and visualize as long as you would like in this space. Close sacred space when your ritual is complete. Thank your guides for their participation in your ritual. Let the candles burn until they are out. Be sure to leave candles in a space that is safe to burn. Use a fire-safe place or pot if you are using free-standing candles.

      Kitchen Witch" is a term used for cunning or witchy folx whose spiritual practice is rooted within food, mealtimes, and the home. Kitchen Witches craft rituals, spells and/or potions utilizing edible items, found objects, and common household items. The kitchen is their altar; their home is their sacred space. In 2014, we created our Ritual Kits, Candles and Apothecary with the idea of mixing and matching common ritualistic ingredients like lavender, rose, or patchouli that would create a perfect combination for a unique spell or intention- setting ritual...
