Season’s greetings! We can look forward to enjoying the expansive and optimistic energy of Sagittarius most of the month, then will cap off the month (and the entire year) in solid, structural Capricorn energy. Although this month has a LOT of activity, it will feel lighter, more exciting, and more action-oriented, as we have Neptune and Chiron stationing direct, a solar eclipse that breaks up stagnant energy, and inner planets Mars and Mercury switching signs. One big retrograde to pay attention to is Venus stationing Rx in Capricorn, conjunct Pluto, on the 19th… Expect to have some intimate re-visits and re-dos involving love, money, and values, especially in relation to how they empower/disempower you.
It is also the pagan sabbat Yule, or the Winter Solstice and longest night of the year, which starts on the 21st. This is a very meaningful time to reflect on 2021 and meditate on the growth and changes you experienced, and how they will create nectar of wisdom to nourish 2022. This timing coincides with the nodes changing signs, moving to the Taurus/Scorpio axis on the 22nd, the day after Yule. As if that’s not enough of an energy shift, the final Saturn/Uranus square (thank gaaahd) happens on the 24th; our final wake-up call and road-opener of this year. Right before the new year, Jupiter moves into Pisces, a beautiful transit to wrap ourselves in like a cozy celestial blanket sewn with the threads of compassion, empathy, and connectedness to others.
Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones, whatever you celebrate! Please remember that gratitude and giving nourish your soul and raise the vibration of our planet, so think about donating time, energy, or money to feed and clothe unhoused people or support rescue and healing efforts for animals during the holiday season.
Check out several notable astro transit dates below to both prepare for and better understand these massive energy shifts so you can work with the cosmic flow. Be sure to check the Tarotscopes blog for specific astrology transits for your sun, rising, and moon signs, too.
Create your own rituals around the new and full moons with themes, symbols, and tools to activate your manifestations and releases outlined below. Make note of which house will be most affected for you, per lunation, as well. Especially for the solar new moon eclipse!
Wishing you all a beautiful month ahead, the happiest of holidays, and an abundant, prosperous, healthy, and thriving 2022!
Notable Transits:
Friday, December 3, 2021 @ 12 degrees of Sagittarius
THEMES & SYMBOLS: exploration, freedom, emancipation, travel, spontaneity, honesty, authenticity, justice, idealism, optimism, adaptability, teaching/learning, philosophy, spirituality, multiculturalism, intellect, great sense of humor, jokes, passion, strong inner fire + will, communication, temper bursts, lack of tact, bluntness, effort, growth, positive energy, limitlessness, shooting for the stars, Jupiter, fire, the archer, the centaur, the salamander, falcons, hawks, monkeys, owls, Pegasus
Although new moons are generally lower energy times to rest and do shadow work, this new moon in the mutable fire of Sagittarius, plus a solar eclipse and opposition to Mars, makes it seem right to have a combo of solo introspection coupled with big, bright, expansive thinking/exploring/action to round out this final new moon of the year. Candle magick is very optimal with this fire sign lunation, as candles have been traditionally used in winter months as primary sources of illumination and warmth, sometimes the only illumination in places that are dark most of the day. Connect to your authentic Self and set intentions that resonate with that truth since Sag loves to seek knowledge and call out the bullshit (which can get you in trouble with others if you are too blunt—Sag rising speaking from experience over here), so be mindful. Then set those intentions ablaze, illuminating the darkness and transmuting these final wishes of 2021 into the ether. Of note is the aforementioned Sag bluntness in cahoots with Mercury sitting very close to the moon really highlights watching your words… They can hurt! But if you consciously run your words through a compassion filter, your communication should be able appease all parties while you get your message across.
ECLIPSE SEASON:
We are in eclipse season and at the end of the Wheel of the Year, indicating the shift of the nodal axis from Gemini/Sagittarius to Taurus/Scorpio after this final Sagittarius solar eclipse, closing the book written over the past year and half, shaking up and transforming your Sag/Gemini houses. This shift is the harbinger of a major undercurrent filled with long-term change starting to flow into new energy. Solar eclipses are less intense and emotional than lunar eclipses, and they tend to bring forth opportunities for growth and beginnings, correlating to new moon energy, as well. This is an expansive portal of transformation opening at this lunation since Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, who loves to expand, grow, and sprinkle lucky bread crumbs along our soul paths. Really take in and sit with all of the energetic oscillation, starts, stops, realizations, changes, and your feelings to assess what your 2022 goals will look like as we all walk up to the door of the Taurus/Scorpio axis and all the rooms we’ll explore inside this new metaphorical house. Plant those big, beautiful seeds in the powerful darkness of this new moon soil and visualize the roots of your intentions expanding underground limitlessly throughout the garden of the upcoming axis!

NEW MOON PETITION
Write your intentions as specifically as possible on a small piece of paper, in the present tense, as if they are already happening or already happened. Fold it 3 times toward you, symbolizing bringing energy to you, and place on your altar under your crystals. You may also place your petition under your Fire Element candle or chime candle before you light your candle. This is a fire moon, so you can safely light your petition on fire to burn your wishes into being.
SUGGESTED MANTRA
“On this lunation, I claim all the benevolent fire energy available to me so I may be energized by the expansive spirit of Sagittarius and the fresh energy of this solar eclipse. May they promote my healing, growth, and knowledge and lead me to new beginnings to fully bloom next year. I am open to big, bountiful opportunities aligned with my present goals. My horizon is expanding before my eyes, there are no limits to what I can dream, and the seeds I plant now will fruit abundance for my highest good in 2022. So mote it be!”
NEW MOON MEDICINE
Sag rules the hips, thighs, legs, and sciatic nerve. We store trauma in our hips area, so yoga poses to gently open these up, like legs up the wall, is effortless and stretches the back and thighs (also the sciatic nerve). Go for walks with friends or pets, connecting your body to the earth while your mind roams and dreams free. Dance, run, or roller skate to shake out old energy and make room for refreshing new energy to come into your orbit!
THEMES & SYMBOLS: gratitude and forgiveness in relationships, endings/beginnings, the mind, intellect, new ideas, communication, dissolving mental blocks, optimism, understanding, truth revealed, good news, laughter, mutability, accepting change, final releases, new paths, curiosity, exploration, siblings, writing, reading, balancing logic and intuition, ouroboros, mirrors, Hermes, Mercury, twins, lavender, bees, hummingbird, sparrow, butterfly, monkey, deer, Loki, Athena, Castor & Pollux
Wow, we made it. This is the final lunation and full moon of 2021! This is a major release point where you have the opportunity to integrate Gemini intellectual energy to scan through the entire year and see what needs scooping by Mercury to throw into the fire of releases. I would harken this full moon to Hermes the psychopomp, ushering what you shed into the decay of the afterlife. This lunation has the sun (opposite the moon, illuminating it = full moon) sextiling Jupiter, a lovely transit to simultaneously carve us new paths as we release what we’ve outgrown. This harmonious transit will encourage growth and bring some luck around your releases. The moon does quincunx Pluto and Venus in Cap, which will help with highlighting and mirroring imbalances in love, money, value, and power. It may sound like an alarm bell in relationships for some, and inner battle for others, but use this energy at the culmination of this year to bravely confront what may come up in order to name it and leave it in the dust of 2021. Be sure to seek abundance and express gratitude for the abundance you have accumulated this year! Naming what we’re grateful always rounds out sharper energy.
Speaking of… Gratitude and forgiveness are two poles to oscillate between before and after this final full moon of the year. I would spend a little bit of time before, on, and after this lunation meditating on the year by making lists (very Gemini):

FULL MOON PETITION
For this air moon, write out your full moon releases and one person you want to forgive from your previous list on a small piece of paper, speak them aloud facing east (air element direction), then light it on fire and place in cauldron to safely burn, and finally blow the ashes into the wind away from your home.
SUGGESTED MANTRA
“On this full moon, so much abundance is illuminated, and for that, I am grateful. I also see what I no longer need to bring with me into 2022, and I hereby release through my words and the power of Mercury all that pushes me out of balance, anyone who does not have my highest good in mind, and any situation that is not aligned with my soul path. I ask the universe to release these from me with grace in divine timing for my highest good. I also send light and forgiveness to (list the names here), hereby severing any parasitic cords between us and replacing each cord with the highest vibrations of love. I have now cleared my path for a harmonious, abundant, healthy, and prosperous 2022. I am ready. I am free. So mote it be!”
FULL MOON MEDICINE
Gemini rules our brain, nervous system, lungs, shoulder, arms, hands. Have a game night with friends, go to a comedy night and laugh like crazy, catch up on reading, journal daily, do an adult coloring book, pull tarot, start a dream journal, work with clay/take a pottery class—anything mentally stimulating that engages these body parts will help move energy blocks and stagnant energy through your system. Neptune is in the mix, so intertwining creativity and spirituality can be medicinal this full moon, too! Chanting the bija mantra YAM will clear and strengthen your heart chakra, sitting near your lungs and energetically connected to your Lovers card.
Wishing you all a road opening New Moon and cleansing and forgiving Full Moon this December! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!
