Analysis: This lunation is probably one of the better moons in recent weeks. I am a bit relieved just looking at the aspects as I write this. There’s something very magical and therapeutic about this Full Moon. Perhaps much of that is this Moon’s aspect to Neptune, bringing about a dreamy and psychic wave of energy. When planets make harmonious aspects to Neptune, we see spirit in action, helping us lean into our empathic feels and connect to the heavens above. Neptune dissolves boundaries and blurs lines. When Mercury or the Moon is in harmony with this planet, often, we receive cosmic downloads, symbolic dreams, or strong intuitive messages. Forms of divination, water magic, or scrying can prove to be extra insightful during this Full Moon. They say Scorpio Full Moons are for communing with the dead, and expelling curses, hexes, and poisons. Scorpio is a fixed water sign, ruled by both Pluto and Mars. Traditionally, Scorpio Full Moons are rather intense, often bringing skeletons out from all the closets. This sign is no stranger to all the nitty-gritty topics of life that may make some other signs cringe. Death, sex, and regeneration are major themes when a Scorpio full moon takes place. Pluto is stationed retrograde in Capricorn at the time of this Full Moon, suggesting you may really need to do some digging to determine what it is that needs to go. From the depths of your soul, pull out all the muck. Like the Phoenix, some situations will need to come to a close, only to let new opportunities rise from the ashes. Consider this Moon to be ripe with the opportunity to dispel anything negative or toxic.

Mercury sits polar opposite to this Full Moon near the Sun in Taurus. I could see where this leads to some rather unexpected situations. Travel mishaps, unexpected emails, texts, or conversations may arise. It’s not often we see THIS much-fixed energy in the skies. Fixed signs such as Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius represent stable, sometimes rigid ways of being. None of these three signs are very flexible or forgiving. Mars T-squares suggest the need for action or motivation. When Mars moves through Aquarius, it isn’t bothered to ask if it “fits in” or “gets along,” it just moves in its own unique way—likely motivating people to follow suit and join the movement. I see this square to the Sun and Moon as a disagreement over values, or the direction forward. When Mars moves to square both the Sun in Taurus (ego/ power) as well as the Moon in Scorpio (emotions/ fear), I expect big things to take place. Fear is a funny thing; everyone responds differently. Some people may find themselves at a breaking point with this Moon, where they are pushed to HAVE to respond/ react to something. This is a sign you need to relax more and trust the process. Letting go can be cathartic for some. Mourning may follow.

It’s safe to say we’re are all very much at different points when it comes to the state of our lives now. Some are in a place of hopelessness, unable to accept their current reality. Others are optimistic and hopeful for the future, they have already let go of the job or relationship that failed, or the NEED to value money over their mental health. Whatever end of the spectrum you’re at right now; that’s ok. Grief is a process. The Moon in Scorpio represents the collective, and what needs to be purged, while the Sun in Taurus emphasizes the tangible realm. It’s crystal clear based on this square; not everyone will share the same perspective on the way forward. Not everyone will react well to endings. Some will fight, many will disagree. Just observe. Some may find this lunation as a time of defining your values, balancing budgets, or kicking old habits. It’s an intensely real time to clean out old social media platforms, getting rid of past messages, emails, or anything that creates energetic “clutter.” It’s an equally beneficial time to consider a detox, be that for health reasons, or to escape a bit from your social media grip.

Venus is in Gemini, forming harmonizing trines to Mars. Mars simultaneously trines the North Node at 29 degrees of Gemini. Watch for gossip here, as the squares to Neptune also suggest that not all you hear is necessarily true. This is likely making people feel chatty and willing to connect with others. I expect some keyboards and phones to be ablaze with some dramatic shake-ups. Dramatic endings and fiery situations may make headlines, especially when it comes to financial concerns or untimely deaths. People are likely to become very restless, given the recent shelter in place orders and push to go back into society and resume their regular schedules. The North node just recently moved into the sign of Gemini, suggesting a brand new direction for the world in the months ahead. Gemini brings our attention to communication, media, and news. It’s safe to say in the weeks and months ahead, after long periods of a great division in the media, we may see unity once again. I hope that FACTS and actual DATA, along with various scientific points of view, help educate the masses rather than spreading fear. Hopefully, the cosmos will allow for multiple seats at the media table, and we can start the process of respecting and allowing more direct and honest points of view in the future.

TRY THIS

Full Moon in Scorpio Banishing Spell

This is best performed within 72 hours of the Full Moon.

You will need:

*Pro Tip: Try the Banishing and Protection Ritual Mist to substitute for herbs and oils!

    Steps:

    1. Take your sage and cleanse the corners of the room you’re working in with sacred smoke, dispelling anything not wanted in the room. Be sure to move sage around door frames, mirrors, arches, corners, etc.
    2. Burn your incense. Fill the chalice. Place a few of your black stones inside the water. Set up your materials on a tabletop. Pray and ground your energy to open up sacred space.
    3. Take your pen and paper, and write out a list of anything you wish to BANISH and REMOVE or PURGE from your life. Be very, very specific, and cautious as once you opt to “remove” these things/ situations, people, they may very well go. This is not a Moon to MANIFEST- it’s one to clean house. Pick something you want to bulldoze out of your life.
    4. Fold it three times AWAY from you. Grab your candles and matches.
    5. Circularly place the white tea light candles. Place a pinch of salt in each one. Place the black candle in the center of the white candles. Light the candles in a counter-clockwise motion. Start with the black center candle first. (Optional: you may dress your black candle with banishing/ removing/ uncrossing oil and herbs*)
    6. Burn the list of things you want to release or banish. Let burn in a cauldron or fireproof pot. Make sure you do this in a well-ventilated space and keep an eye on the paper until it’s entirely out. When you know it’s out, I recommend taking the ash and flushing it down the toilet.
    7. You are welcome to allow the candles to burn until they’re out.
    8. You may use the chalice water to dump on a front porch step, cleanse counters with, or dump over your head in a magical bath. This will be charged with your intentions of cleansing.

Kitchen Witch" is a term used for cunning or witchy folx whose spiritual practice is rooted within food, mealtimes, and the home. Kitchen Witches craft rituals, spells and/or potions utilizing edible items, found objects, and common household items. The kitchen is their altar; their home is their sacred space. In 2014, we created our Ritual Kits, Candles and Apothecary with the idea of mixing and matching common ritualistic ingredients like lavender, rose, or patchouli that would create a perfect combination for a unique spell or intention- setting ritual...
